“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. – Nelson Mandela
At the end of April 2014, the Applied Economics Research course sessions have started. I spent the last quarter of my university year in Utrecht School of Economics and Blue Lynx Employment in The Hague.
It was not a norm at Utrecht School of Economics to combine a thesis paper with an internship, this rarely happens. There are several proposals need to be submitted prior to the course and needs approval from the Thesis Coordinator. My thesis was entitled ‘Human Resources Outsourcing: No One Size Fits all Approach’. It was a very challenging but rewarding experience for me. I have been blessed with colleagues who genuinely helped me with the survey questionnaires and organized the results of my research.
It was an excellent choice to combine my internship and thesis with Blue Lynx. This is such a fantastic way to seal the deal of my bachelor’s degree. Firstly, I have a real-time data which I can analyze while working in the office. Secondly, I had examined theoretical concepts of Economics to be applied on the workplace. Finally, I have offered a job after my graduation to work for Blue Lynx. Isn’t that wonderful?
With all the hard work and dedication during the 48 months of my university study, at long last I have obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Economics on 29 of August 2014 but the ceremony was held on the 17th of September.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all private individuals who have joined my mission to show the world that a Filipina from the underprivileged squatter in Cavite City can inspire, educate and make a difference through education. I dream, I did and I become!
This diploma I am holding right now is just another key to move forward… Hopefully until the Master’s degree!
